Volunteering

There are several ways you can volunteer your time and help at African Village Support.

Your Time
Most of the work we undertake at AVS is in the villages of Eastern Uganda. As you will read throughout our web site we are constantly building, updating and maintaining and additional help is always needed. Over the years we have had several volunteers who make the trip out to Uganda and join our team on the ground. In return we can give you food, shelter, lighting and a warm welcome. We ask that all overseas volunteers raise their airfare and a donation to the charity through fund raising activities.

Fund Raising
This is the most important aspect of running our charity. Non of what we have achieved could have been done without the voluntary donations made by people like you and I. There are many ways you can help us fund raise from baking and selling cakes to bike riding from John O’Groats to Lands End.

Ambassador Program
You will probably already be a supporter of AVS and want to help take us to the next stage in our efforts to be more sustainable. Having a network of contacts and/or a connection with Africa will certainly help. Our Ambassadors will be given full support and training to be able to;
  • Engaging in speaking slots at local schools, churches, social clubs to widen the AVS story
  • Introducing AVS to a teacher or school to join with their charity programme
  • Helping source auction and raffle items for events
  • Taking part in an AVS event committee and organising other fundraising events for AVS
  • Finding at least one other person/group who can sponsor a student

Skilled Volunteers
If you have one or more of these skills we need you!
  • IT to help with database development & management
  • Website development
  • Developing our social media presence
  • P.R./ marketing
  • Schools co-ordination
  • Funding applications – bid writing
